Ryanair to carry 2.5 million passengers this Christmas

25% of passengers will travel for less than £10! More families than ever heading to sun and ski destinations. Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (20th Dec 09) announced that it will smash all previous Christmas passenger records as over 2.5million passengers travel on their low fare flights between 23rd December and 5th January – with one in four passengers travelling home or to the sun/slopes for less than a tenner (£10) after snapping up heavily discounted fares in seat sales during October and November.

Scottish ski areas now open

Three more of Scotland’s five ski areas have opened following heavy snowfall across the country, only Glencoe remains closed. Glenshee, Nevis Range and The Lecht have all opened, joining Cairngorm, above Aviemore, which has been open since November and continues to offer the most skiing in the country.

14 people injured when ski lift reverses at Devils Head

A ski lift malfunction injured at least 14 people, when the ski lift at Devil’s Head Resort suddenly reversed for unknown reasons. The horrifying incident occurred on Thursday, December 17, 2009, around 7:00 p.m. in Merrimac, as reported by the Wisconsin State Journal.

4 year old girl falls 30 feet from ski lift in Utah

A 4-year-old girl was flown to the hospital in serious condition after falling from a ski chairlift Saturday at Alta Ski Area. The girl was riding the Sunnyside chairlift about 4:30 p.m. when she apparently fell 30 to 40 feet, said Unified Fire Authority Capt. Clint Smith.

New England ski resorts gets lots of fresh snow

Ski areas in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and New York State as well as areas in more southerly states like New Jersey are benefitting from a storm system that is bringing lots of snow to Eastern North America. This is coming on top of healthy accumulations over the past week and is perfect timing for the busy Christmas and New Year holiday periods.
