French number one Chappuis has fond memories of Kuusamo after collecting his maiden World Cup victory at the Finnish venue in 2006.
He said: “After five days in Finland last week, mostly undertaking jumping exercises on the 90 metre hill, we had a little competition.
“The French and Japanese teams competed plus some of the Czechs, a Canadian and a Finn. It went pretty well for me because I won and my colleagues also did quite well.
“We arrived on Sunday in Kuusamo. It is minus five and there is no wind so the conditions are ideal. In addition we are housed in beautiful wooden chalets.
“I have already had some test jumps on the large hill and we were pleased with jumps between 135m and 142m.
“And the training this summer went well for the team with a total of 60 days training and about 350 jumps on the plastic.
“Just more than a few days training and it will be the first World Cup of the season.”
