The Ski Club of Great Britain has advised winter sports enthusiasts to start thinking about their 2009-10 holidays soon if they are hoping to get a good deal. A spokeswoman for the Ski Club said that people who book their holidays now, particularly for peak periods such as Christmas, will get the best value for money.
She also advised making early arrangements for lift passes, ski gear and other additional items that can bump up the cost of a winter sports break.
Commenting on destinations that will prove popular with skiers and snowboarders this winter, the Ski Club spokeswoman said that countries that do not use the euro could be a common choice.
‘North America [is popular], so Canada and the States where people normally go for a bit longer, ten days or so. The cost is a bit more but you are not getting hit by the euro,’ she said.
‘Otherwise you’ve got European destinations which don’t use the euro, for example, Bulgaria.’
According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, snow conditions in the Alps and Pyrenees over the 2008-09 season were as good as they have been for the past 25 years.
