The Ski Club of Great Britain and Snow+Rock presented a cheque for £2947 to Disability Snowsport UK at the opening of The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead. The two companies raised the money for the skiers and snowboarders charity at a series of events last autumn including a lecture by free skiing legend Chris Davenport, and the ‘Prepare for Snow’ talks, which took place in Snow+Rock stores around the UK.
Disability Snowsport UK’s aim is that anyone regardless of their disability can take part in and enjoy the thrill of snowsports. They provide life enhancing activities for individuals or groups who require adaptive equipment and/or special instruction and support to ski or snowboard.
Caroline Stuart Taylor, Chief Executive of the Ski Club of Great Britain, who presented the cheque to Fiona Young of Disability Snowsport UK said at the launch, “We hope this money will help to encourage disabled people to take up snowsports and in fact help change lives. Some of the money will also go towards the British Disabled Ski Team who are incredible and an inspiration to all of us.”
Kevin Young, Marketing Manager at Snow+Rock expressed his delight at how much money was raised for Disability Snowsport UK, “Last autumn we embarked on an ambitious schedule of talks which were aimed at inspiring skiers and boarders. Fortunately they were a resounding success and we managed to raise a good sum of money. We are delighted to be able to donate this money to Disability Snowsport UK and help them out in their quest to ensure that everyone gets a chance to enjoy the buzz of snowsports.”
