The western Alps are generally expecting a colder and snowier start to the week, followed by a warm and sunny ending. Meribel in France should receive around 20cm of snow over the course of this week, before the sun comes out and the temperature climbs on Friday. By early next week the freezing level should be up around 2400m, giving some great spring skiing. The weather is not expected to be as good in the eastern half of the Alps. Many places in Austria are expecting more snow with around 20–30cm expected at most places.
The temperature should be around the same as in France, ranging from around -3C at the start of this week to around 3C at 2000m by the weekend.
Over in Scandinavia the weather is set to be the opposite of that in the Alps. Voss, in Norway, is expecting a sunny and warm start to the week before the temperature drops and a snowstorm moves in on Thursday 15th April.
By the weekend the temperature should have dropped to around -4C at the bottom.
25cm of fresh snow is expected at Timberline in Oregon. It is forecast to fall during the first half of this week before much milder weather moves in by the weekend. On Sunday 18th April the temperature could be as high as 11C.
Spring is definitely dominating in Colorado now, after a cold March. The freezing level at Breckenridge will range between 3500m and 4100m most of the time, which is around the summit of the resort.
Snow is expected to fall lightly for most of the week at Whistler. It should also warm up which will mean light rain at times in the village but this is to be expected at this time of year.
Further inland at Banff it should be a snowier start to the week before turning warm and sunny by Friday 16th April.
