New Zealand currently enjoying good conditions
Winter made a sudden, although brief, return to Austria last weekend. Saturday was hot and sunny and then Sunday was cold and snowy in many resorts. On the Hintertux Glacier it snowed down to around 1800m, well below the summer ski area.
Spring continues in Australia. Most resorts have very mild weather which is causing the snow to melt but this isn’t a problem for most. However there are some that don’t have enough to open. Mount Baw Baw and Ben Lomond are both closed due to a lack of snow.
It’s a better story in New Zealand though. There was some fresh snow on 1st September and good skiing can be found at most areas. Cardrona had all but one of its lifts running and the fresh snow is making for great skiing.
Fresh snow fell in parts of Chile at the beginning of the week. There was lots of powder at Valle Nevado and Portillo where up to 30cm fell over the course of a few days. Since then its been warm and sunny but colder weather is on its way again.
