Snow report Powdery end to the year in the Alps

The majority of our featured European resorts enjoyed a couple of days of beautiful clear blue skies over the Christmas holiday period. However, on Thursday 29th December the conditions significantly changed with cloudy skies bringing light snowfall to many resorts in western Europe. This snowfall is expected to notably increase on Friday 30th December and throughout the forthcoming weekend, meaning a great powdery end to 2011.

In America, resorts in the east received the most snow over the Christmas weekend. Many resorts received around 15cm of fresh snow, which is a great boost given their slow start to the season so far.

Lots of snow has been falling in Canada, both on the east and west. Over half a metre fell in Whistler and a lot more is forecast, although the best riding is high up as lower down the precipitation has been wet. Great conditions can be found at Banff in the Rockies too, enhanced by the fresh snow that has fallen there.
