Fresh snow forecast for most of this week across the European ski resorts
Fresh snow has been falling in the Alps and more is forecast this week. This is great news for anyone planning on a Christmas break and hoping for fresh tracks. Thanks to this fresh snow and the hard work of resort operation teams, piste depths and the number of opened lifts are generally on the increase by the day, meaning the winter season is getting into full swing.
The fresh snow this week has fallen heaviest in the west, with many Swiss and French resorts reporting improving riding conditions.
It was snowing in Italy on Thursday. The Milky Way ski area is open.
It would be easy to forget Scotland with all the snow in the Alps, but there’s lots of excellent skiing on offer. Recent snowfall has left resorts with lots of snow, especially on the marked runs. All five of our featured resorts should be open for skiing.
In America, there were decent falls of snow in Colorado and New Mexico, in America. Taos received 25cm of snow and it’s very cold too, keeping the snow light and dry. Vail and Beaver creek received between 10cm and 15cm and conditions are great.
Good skiing can be found across Canada. Banff has nearly all its terrain open and 20cm of fresh snow at Fernie last week means powder can be found if you look for it.
