Ski holidays in Poland
Poland
Poland is not particularly known for its ski resorts, but it does not mean that there’s no any. You should not forget that the famous and very successful ski jumper Adam Malysz was born in Poland. The ski area closely connected with his name is Zakopane. It is one of the four largest ski resorts in Poland.
Zakopane is probably the most famous holiday resort in Poland all year round because its landscapes are always impressive, no matter what season is. The city is located in the North of the Tatras and has about 30,000 residents. Tourism started to develop there in the middle of 19th century. There are five ski resorts in Zakopane that offer tourists slopes of different lengths. Kasprowy Wierch is the most challenging area for skiers and therefore it is also very popular, so the skiers sometimes have to wait for a vacant lift to come. The ski season there usually lasts until early May. The ski area offers a slope of 9 km that is the longest in the region. At every ski slope the qualified ski coaches offer their help and there is the possibility to rent gear for skiing and snowboarding.
