Ski Poland – Polish ski resorts

Ski holidays in Poland

Poland Ski Poland Polish ski resorts

Poland is not particularly known for its ski resorts, but it does not mean that there’s not any. You should not forget that the famous and very successful ski jumper Adam Malysz was born in Poland. The ski area closely connected with his name is Zakopane. It is one of the four largest ski resorts in Poland.

Zakopane is probably the most famous holiday resort in Poland all year round because its landscapes are always impressive, no matter what season is. The city is located in the North of the Tatras and has about 30,000 residents. Tourism started to develop there in the middle of 19th century. There are five ski resorts in Zakopane that offer tourists slopes of different lengths. Kasprowy Wierch is the most challenging area for skiers and therefore it is also very popular, so the skiers sometimes have to wait for a vacant lift to come. The ski season there usually lasts until early May. The ski area offers a slope of 9 km that is the longest in the region. At every ski slope the qualified ski coaches offer their help and there is the possibility to rent gear for skiing and snowboarding.

Another well-known ski region is Czarna Góra, which is translated “Black Mountain”. There is a modern winter sports center there from which one should start his (her) trials and hikes. There is a chair ski lift, the ski carousel for children and other lifts able to transport up to 4,350 passengers per hour. If necessary, the main 6 slopes may be covered with artificial snow that is updated daily. Tourism is very important for this region so there you will find modern infrastructure, very good slopes that guarantee fast skiing.

Zakopane is not the only place worth visiting if you want to ski. There are other worthy destinations in Poland such as Szczyrk, Szklarska Poreba and Karpacz. All cities in Poland offer a variety of hotels, holiday houses and other accommodation options. Après-skiing and entertainment infrastructure is also well developed.
