Adelboden gets ready for the Ski Chilbi festival

Winter 2009–10 still has four weeks to run at Adelboden-Lenk, where the ski season continues to May 2nd. The Swiss resort is looking forward to its second annual Ski festival next weekend (10–11 April). The festival marks the revival of the popular mountain festivals the resort staged in the past up at Hahnenmoos.

The Adelboden-Lenk ski region is famous for a wide choice of mountain taverns and snow bars. In many of the venues serving food, there is a special, good value “Chilbi” menu and of course alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to go with it. Various musicians will also make an appearance in the region’s mountain taverns.

“Tradition is the name of the game and the friendly, welcoming spirit of the past is alive once again in the ski regions Adelboden-Lenk. Guests readily appreciate the excellent piste network and the natural “joie de vivre” that exists here in the mountains. Carving and snowboarding is much more than just fun in the snow: winter sport also means celebrations and making new friends.” Said a resort spokesperson.

During the festival, visitors can buy a day pass for the full surrounding Silleren-Hahnenmoos-Bühlberg Metsch and Betelberg ski area for the reduced rate of 28 Swiss francs.

The party atmosphere will be alive again a fortnight later on Saturday 24 April when the Alpine Splash takes place once more on Engstligenalp. Weather permitting, there will be a repeat performance on Sunday 25 April.
Alpine Splash participants head for a melt water pool on skis or snowboards. The most spectacular rides and modes of transport, the most original diver and the hottest outfits will be commended by a special panel of judges.

If you have the nerve to join the fearless riders, you can register up until 9am on the Saturday morning. The event starts at noon and in order to ensure everyone knows what’s going on there will be live commentary by DJ KT. Refreshments are provided by Grill ‘n’ Chill and the Splashbar.
