Dummy downhill to wrap up Sun Peaks season

Sun Peaks resort in Canada’s British Columbia is one of many leading North American ski areas that cease snow operations each April when the snow still lies metres deep on the mountain. The resort likes to finish its season with a bit of fun, and stages its Spring Festival on April 10 – 11 which includes dummy’s flying down the mountain, skiing across a pond of slush and a race to ring a bell.

For the annual Dummy Downhill Race, the sky is the limit for dummy designers, as long as it’s safe, tasteful and slides on skis. Judges will be looking for style, design, destruction upon impact and the coolness factor.

Coolness is also the theme for the Slush Cup, the pinnacle event of the closing weekend as participants dress up in their wildest outfits and attempt to make it across a man-made pond filled with slushy water.

For the final run of the season at Sun Peaks, guests can sign up for the Top to Bottom’s Race to see if they can make it from the Top of the World to Bottom’s Bar and Grill faster than anyone else. The first racer to ring the bell at Bottom’s is the winner.
