Win a car in fun treasure hunt at Obertauern

If you’ve ever fancied driving away from your ski holiday in a
In scenes resembling the film, ’It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World‘ the snowsure resort where the Beatles film ‘Help!‘ nearly 50 years ago chooses to highlight its long season – still open when most Austrian resorts have closed their lifts – by organising the treasure hunt which in the past have had top prizes including a Porsche and a Hummer. This time it’s a BMW X3 and the treasure hunt takes place on Easter Sunday, April 24th, the climax of a five day period of fun and festivities.
What actually happens is that the resort buries 30 chests in the snow over an area covering two football pitches. 1,000 people win the chance to dig for it. One of the chests contains the keys for the car, others contain other good prizes.
To have a chance of taking part you need to buy a 40 Euro ticket (reduced to 30 Euros if you book accommodation in the resort). If your ticket is one of the 1,000 chosen you need to take part at the Gamsleiten Party the day before the competition where the order of digging is decided by raffle. Whoever is chosen first goes up on the lift first, whoever is 1000th, goes up last.
