25% of passengers will travel for less than £10! More families than ever heading to sun and ski destinations. Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (20th Dec 09) announced that it will smash all previous Christmas passenger records as over 2.5million passengers travel on their low fare flights between 23rd December and 5th January – with one in four passengers travelling home or to the sun/slopes for less than a tenner (£10) after snapping up heavily discounted fares in seat sales during October and November.
Ryanair confirmed that ‘flying home for Christmas’ routes to Poland, Italy and Germany remain the most popular, while Ryanair has sold over 50,000 Canary Islands seats (20,000 alone from the UK) which will see more families than ever enjoy turkey on the beach. The more adventurous are flocking to Turin, Grenoble and Salzburg to ski and enjoy the legendary après ski this Christmas and New Year.
Ryanair has released 100,000 £10 seats as a Christmas ‘thank you’ to the 66 million passengers who continue to make Ryanair the world’s favourite international airline in 2009. These £10 seats are one way including taxes and charges and are available until 12pm — Christmas Eve (Thur 24th) for travel in January.
Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said “Ryanair is delighted to reunite over 2.5million passengers with family and friends at the many family gatherings and New Year celebrations between 23rd December and 4th January. This year more families will flock to the sun and the slopes thanks to our heavily discounted Christmas fares.
“We are looking forward to 2010 as we continue to offer Europe’s lowest fares and no fuel surcharges guarantee on over 1,000 exciting routes and we encourage everyone to get the New Year off to an exciting start by logging on to Ryanair today to pick up one of our 100,000 £10 seats for travel in January. Ryanair wishes its passengers a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year”.
