Ski patroller Mark Wolling caught in Jackson Hole avalanche

A Jackson Hole Mountain Resort ski patroller is still in critical condition Wednesday night at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after being buried in an avalanche. The resort says 58-year-old Mark Wolling was caught in the slide Wednesday morning as he and other patrollers conducted avalanche hazard reduction work in the Cheyenne Bowl.

Wolling was buried in the slide and fell over a cliff. Patrollers found him buried in about six feet of snow. They performed CPR and used an automated external defibrillator while transporting him to Jackson.

Wolling was later taken by plane to EIRMC in Idaho Falls, where he remains as of Wednesday night.
