Snowtrails TV on Time Warner

Oswego County’s excellent snowmobile trail system will be featured on the national cable series “SnowTrails TV,” an adventure snowmobiling series that features national and international snowmobiling destinations, beginning this month.

The local episode will be broadcast on Time Warner cable channels 54 and 801 at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2. It will also air at 7:30 Sunday mornings, Dec. 4, on MSG Plus.

The Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning sponsored Grant’s visit to Oswego County last February in partnership with WPBS public television of Watertown. Guided by members of the Oswego County Snowmobile Association, Grant and his crew spent a day riding more than 100 miles of local trails. Several volunteers and local businesses helped to make the filming a success.

The regional New York State episode will also feature footage from Oneida and Lewis counties and the Old Forge area of Herkimer County. The county tourism offices are also working with WPBS to produce Snow Country New York, a new four-part local snowmobiling television series that will air this winter.

Snow Country NewYork will premiere on WPBS over four Thursdays, at 7:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 5, and will be re-broadcast Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 14. The show will expand on additional topics such as where and when to ride, the sport as a family activity, sights to see and things to do, the economic impact of the sport, and snowmobiler safety. Several Oswego county businesses and volunteers from the snowmobile clubs were interviewed for the series.

“We’re looking forward to the debut of both of these series,” said Dave Turner, Director of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.

“Snowmobiling plays an important role in our mix of tourism amenities and Oswego County wants to do more to promote our fantastic trail system. The Oswego County Association of Snowmobile Clubs provided their expertise for this project and worked with us on logistics and filming locations in Oswego County.”
