Heavy snowfall set to cover central London location, but this time it will actually improve transport links for Londoners.

Snow is set to fall in London next Wednesday 30th September as Aer Lingus launches its new winter routes.

To celebrate the company’s new routes from Gatwick, Aer Lingus has invited 300 holiday ‘sun/ski’ seekers to take part in a massive snow ball fight at Potters Field Park, in the shadow of the iconic Tower Bridge.

The recruits, who were all recruited via a social media campaign, will be dressed in their summer gear and will be required to do some specially designed ‘snowball’ throwing arm exercises.

Launching just a month ago, the social campaign recruited over 1,500 people with the first 300 invited to come along.

The lure of the snow proved so tempting to many of the ‘snowball’ experts that they are travelling from all over the UK to take part – London, Liverpool, Newcastle and Huddersfield. As a thank you, Aer Lingus is giving the participants two free return flights from Gatwick airport.

Enda Corneille, corporate affairs director at Aer Lingus, says: “What better way to celebrate our new winter sun destinations then transforming Central London into a winter scene that would rival Lapland while getting everyone dressed up in their summer best.”

Aer Lingus will be adding another five new winter routes to their European flights from Gatwick Airport from 25th October, bringing the total number of Aer Lingus European destinations to thirteen.

Holidaymakers eager to get away this winter can now choose to jet off to Tenerife, Lanzarote, Bucharest, Warsaw, Eindhoven or Vilnius, in addition to Malaga, Faro, Vienna, Munich, Knock, Zurich and Dublin.
