Heliskiing in Lake Tahoe for first time in 40 years
This season Lake Tahoe in California will be offeringheli-skiingfor the first time since the 1970s. Operated by Pacific CrestHeli-Guides the operation will access over 100,000 skiable acres and offer an opportunity to ski or board in the Sierra’s hidden and remote areas.
Pacific CrestHeli-Guides will launch the service on 15 December and for those that book early this season they will get the opportunity to get first descents on several runs as most of the heli-accessed terrain has remained untouched for almost four decades.
The founder, Dave Rintala, was the head guide of Alaska’s original helicopter skiing operation and the founder of Pacific Crest Snowcats. Tours depart from the Lake Tahoe town of Truckee daily with weather day backup provided by Pacific Crest Snowcats. Tours will also depart from South Lake Tahoe airport and they’ll offerpick-upsfrom several other locations around the lake. The full day rate is $899 per person and the season is planned to last until 15 April.
As with all off piste skiing, winter sports insurance is a must to allow you to enjoy your heliskiing with piece of mind.
