Ski apartments for sale in France

Mountain life is one of the key elements of French culture and living. From the Alps to the Pyrenees and from the Massif Central to the Vosges, they are ideal places to go skiing, indulge in other winter sports, go walking in summer – and of course buy property.

A property purchase in the northern part of the French Alps puts you right in the heart of not only the leading ski and board resorts of Mont Blanc, Grand Massif and Portes du Soleil, but also a beautiful summer landscape. This opens up opportunities for walking, biking, climbing, restaurant terraces and lakeside beaches to name but a few of the attractions.

Some of the highest concentrations of British buyers are found here and it’s not hard to see why. A key factor in choosing ski apartments for sale, ironically, summer. Clearly, a year-round location maximises your own potential use of the property. From an investment point of view, summer adds significant value both for rental income and capital growth.

The Alps is one of the France’s top holiday destinations but not all visitors are there for the snow, for example Chamonix sees up to 100,000 visitors per day in summer compared to 60,000 in winter. Restaurants, bars, cafés, shops and boulangeries are still serving in May and October in thisturn-of-the-centurytown and its Mont Blanc neighbours.

Annecy known for its famous turquoise blue lake which reaches 24°C in summer, is within an hour’s drive. Lyon, Chambéry and Turin in Italy are about two hours away. St Gervais has its thermal spas, not to mention the vast choice of further spas just over the Italian and Swiss borders, plus the mineral water town of Evian.

While South of France property are predicted to fall a little – though to a lesser degree than in the United Kingdom – in the French Alps the market is expected to stabilise over the next 12 months. The land restrictions will always be there which keeps demand up. So now is a good time to profit from this unusual market in the French Alps.
