Grenoble airport opens up new ski resorts

An avalanche of low cost flights to Grenoble are opening up the French Alps to a new generation of ski fans. Gloucester-based Take Me To (Ski), who have just completed a major refurbishment of the landmark Hotel Les Grandes Rousses in the Alpine resort of L’Alpe d’huez, have reported an upsurge in interest triggered by the increased availability of cheap flights to the region.

Lower than hoped general ski business over Christmas and New Year, along with tough competition, is partly behind a price war kicking off between rental shops in the French Alps. Low cost ski equipment hire company Ski Republic hope to have played the trump card by cutting their prices for equipment hire to just 10 Euros a day, based on a ‘rent one day, get one day free’ deal, with the seventh day also free for those statig in resort more tha the usual six days.
