A series of special events for families during the 2010 Easter holiday fortnight

The French Grand Massif area that surrounds Flaine and includes the four village resorts of Les Carroz, Morillon, Sixt and Samoens below, is planning a series of special events for families during the 2010 East Holiday fortnight. From the 9th to 15th April children will reign supreme with a week of entertainment, workshops and special shows for children.

Most resorts in the Alps and across North America have had healthy snowfalls in the past few days. The biggest single snowfall reported was 90cm (three feet) in 24 hours at Alpine Meadows resort near Lake Tahoe in California, but most other resorts in Western North America have reported at least a foot of new snow in recent days. Beneficiaries have included Jackson Hole in Wyoming and both Squaw Valley and Mammoth mountain in California, both of which are open well in to May and possibly later.

Austria’s pretty Wildschönau Valley is already well known for its low prices and is nearly always cheaper than the bigger areas but families have an even bigger saving to make next Easter as from March 27 to April 11 2010, kids aged from 6 to 15 ski for free.

The offer is valid with two adult passes (parents) for a minimum of five days — a six-day adult lift pass costs 156 Euros (about 20–30% cheaper than in the big resorts in the Alps).

The Wildschönau Valley has been popular with Brits for over 50 years, many of whom know the area by the names of individual villages there like Auffach, Oberau and Niederau.
