For the 2010 / 11 ski season Ski Republic is offering a free day’s ski and snowboard equipment hire for every one day booked, and the seventh day free for bookings made online, or on site in their 32 Ski Republic shops in 24 resorts in the French Alps, regardless of the resort or the time of year.

Two leading snowboard brands, Burton and Flow, will demonstrate their collection for 2011 just 20 minutes outside of London. Visitors can try out all the new gear at The Snow Centre on Friday 27th August from 7pm – 11pm  which will make boarding a cooler experience than ever before. Representatives from both brands will be there to answer questions and help riders choose the right board. The top brands will bring in the latest technological developments.

Free ski passes for children in Alpbach ski resort in Austria

The pretty Austrian Tyrolean resort of Alpbach has announced that children aged up to 15 will be able to ski free on the resort’s slopes during low season next winter. The offer, which is made on a “one adult purchases a ticket and once child skis free” basis is more generous than at most Austrian resorts where children typically have to pay from age 6 or 7.

This is because Jet2 are for a limited time, offering you buy one, get one free on ski carriage for group bookings of 10 or more people. With so many snow-blanketed destinations to choose from at Jet2 it couldn’t be easier to convince your friends that some serious slaloming on the slopes is the perfect way to spend your winter.

The subject of the price of ski and board carriage charged by nearly all airlines has been our pet moan for several months now, with the leading offender being Ryanair, who seems to think it’s good customer service to charge £80/80€ for return carriage of one pair of skis or a snowboard.

Well, maybe the airline is listening to the negative comments, as the lowest of the low cost airlines has announced today that it is offering free ski and board carriage for the first 10,000 passengers who book a return ski flight before midnight on Wednesday the 11th November.

Ski flights operated by Ryanair include Grenoble from Birmingham, Liverpool and Stansted as well as Turin from Bristol, East Midlands and Stansted.
