Here’s our second ski babe of the week and what a scorcher she is! Lindsey Vonn. Let’s hope these don’t contribute to global warming as we still want to go skiing this year!

An emotional Lindsey Vonn hurtled down Whistler mountain to become the first US skier to win the Olympic women’s downhill title. The 25-year-old world champion made a golden start to her “Vonncouver Games” with the stars and stripes on her ski suit, shrugging off her shin injury to beat team mate Julia Mancuso by a hefty 0.56 seconds.

Olympic downhill favourite Lindsey Vonn is getting better each day and welcoming the extra time off she is having due to bad weather. The American, who bruised her shin in training last week and feared she might miss the Games, has only done course inspections so far because the downhill training runs scheduled for Thursday and Friday were cancelled.

Lindsey Vonn won the women’s World Cup super-G title with victory on the slopes of St Moritz in Switzerland. The American fended off Austrian Andrea Fischbacher and France’s Marie Marchand-Arvier to take an unassailable lead with two races remaining. Vonn’s nearest super-G title rival, Swiss Fabienne Suter, finished fourth.

United States skiing sensation Lindsey Vonn expects to wear a new ultra-fast suit at next month’s Winter Olympics. The polyester suit from US firm Spyder could shave hundredths of a second off times — vital in skiing, where such margins could decide Olympic medals.

American Lindsey Vonn blitzed her rivals again to secure a hat-trick of wins this weekend in the Austrian resort of Haus Im Ennstal after taking victory in a World Cup super-G. Winner of both downhills held the two previous days, Vonn’s feat matched that of Germany’s Katja Seizinger in Lake Louise in 1997.
