It is going to be a sunny start to the weekend across France, Switzerland and Italy. On Saturday evening clouds will start to gather and fresh snow is expected to fall on Sunday.

Light snow is forecast for most of this week in Austria. Once again bad Kleinkirchheim is expecting the most snow, with around 25cm expected to have fallen by Saturday 16th January. Most other resorts are expecting between 10cm and 20cm of snow. The freezing level should hover between 400m and 600m at Obertauern, well below the resort base level.

Lots of snow is expected right across Europe this weekend. Many resorts, ranging from France to Austria, are expecting between 30cm and 40cm of fresh snow. In France, Villard de Lans is expecting an impressive 55cm to land over the weekend. The resort has had a slow start to the season and only a few weeks ago there was no snow on the lower slopes. The new snow should come as a big relief.

The weather in Europe this week should stay very wintry with low temperatures and heavy snowfall forecast for the end of the week, particularly in Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Bad Kleinkirchheim in Austria is expecting 53cm of snow to fall by Saturday, with the heaviest being on Thursday and Friday. 35cm is expected on these two days alone.

It should be a fairly snowy week in Austria. Most resorts are expecting between 10cm and 30cm of fresh snow on the upper slopes. It should also get quite a bit colder which will improve the snow conditions and make the skiing much more enjoyable. 21cm of snow should fall at Saalbach, with a very cold weekend predicted.
