Telluride ski resort yoga festival

Telluride in Colorado is located in one of the most beautiful mountain regions on earth, surrounded by mighty 4,000 metre peaks. So what better place to enjoy a little yoga with your physical, visual and spiritual inspiration?

Telluride’s Winter Yoga Festival is underway now and runs until Sunday 13th March 2011 in a tranquil yoga retreat located deep in the majestic San Juan Mountains.

Following the principle teachings of karma yoga, highly qualified instructors take beginners, intermediates and experts through their paces in small groups over this four day course, leaving a feeling of revitalization and life balance.

But if you’re just there for the skiing you’ll find Telluride not only boasts an average of 300 days of sunshine annually and a noticeable lack of lift queues, but also some of the most legendary powder bowls on earth, benefitting from over 750cm (25 feet) of snow each season.

Helitrax offer heli-skiing for both powder hounds and less-experienced intermediates alike giving you the chance to blast down backcountry trails, and vast gullies, accompanied by the safety of fully qualified and experienced off-piste guides, exploring a total of 400 km² expanse of backcountry bowls, making a truly unforgettable experience.

The small and historic town of Telluride, itself formerly a mining village, is today set alive with award-winning restaurants, unique boutiques and lively après-ski. The season ends here earlier than at most of the world’s major resorts, with the snow still lying metres deep on the slopes, but with a big winter season closing party on Sunday 3rd April 2011. Guests are invited to don a costume and join the endless street party to the sounds of local rock bands.
