Council bureaucracy could put an end to the Wycombe Snowdome development

Developers of a multimillion pound ski centre say they are considering pulling the scheme out of High Wycombe because of council “bureaucracy”. Plans to put a new real snow indoor ski centre and ice rink, which would cost more than £10m, on the site of the former Wycombe Summit slopes were turned down by councillors in April.

It’s confirmed – there was snow in Glasgow today!

Well, not quite but there is snow on the ground and skiers and snowboarders have been out enjoying it. 80 tonnes of snow was laying on the ground in Kelvingrove Park today. It was though made at the nearby SNO! zone, the indoor snow centre at Braehead, and was brought over in 4 lorry loads.

bmi adds more ski routes for UK passengers

To the casual observer the decision by bmi British Midland to create its own in-house low-cost carrier was a clear response to Go’s announcement in late 2001 that it intended to make East Midlands (EMA) its third UK base (after London Stansted and Bristol). bmi was so keen to try and dissuade Go (at that point no longer owned by British Airways) from entering its ancestral home market that it even announced plans for the rival airline a whole week before coming up with a name.

Ski Club of Great Britain raises money for Disability Snowsport UK

The Ski Club of Great Britain and Snow+Rock presented a cheque for £2947 to Disability Snowsport UK at the opening of The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead. The two companies raised the money for the skiers and snowboarders charity at a series of events last autumn including a lecture by free skiing legend Chris Davenport, and the ‘Prepare for Snow’ talks, which took place in Snow+Rock stores around the UK.

Glaswegians should prepare them selves for some very unseasonable weather this weekend when the local SNO! zone indoor snow centre at Braehead will dump more than 60 tonnes of snow on Kelvingrove Park in the centre of the city this Sunday, May 23rd, to create a real snow slope from noon to 6pm.
