Vail resorts announces passage of ski area recreational opportunity enhancement act in US Congress

Vail Resorts today announced that the United States Senate unanimously passed the Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act, which follows passage by the House of Representatives by a vote of 394-0. This bill updates the statutes governing how the U.S. Forest Service regulates the use of public land by ski resorts and permits new year-round recreational uses, such as zip-lines, mountain biking and ropes courses.

The 2011-2012 merchant pass will be offered for $629 for employees in Vail

Vail Resorts today announced details of the 2011-2012 Eagle County Merchant Pass program, which is consistent with the product offering from years past and offers access to skiing and snowboarding on more than 11,000 acres at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin, with some restrictions. The 2011-2012 Eagle County Merchant Pass will be offered for $629. The price of the pass will be subject to change with sufficient notice.

Vail season passes can cost less than weekly lift tickets

Vail’s lift ticket pricing at its six resorts is among the most flexible in the worldwide ski industry. On the one hand the undiscounted, peak week, six-day pass for just one resort can be among the most expensive in the world at around $550 (approximately £350) for six days if you’re mad enough to walk up to the ticket window and just buy it.

Ski Vail for less than $15 a day

Vail hit the headlines earlier this month when the prices of a one-day ticket for peak season, bought on the day in person at a ticket office by the slopes, passed the $100 mark. However the resort and industry experts were quick to point out that around 90% of guests don’t pay anything like that, as most often they buy a package that includes their accommodation and lift pass or take advantage of a multi day pass deal.
