British snowboard cross racer Zoe Gillings has finished sixth in the latest World Cup race, her best result of the season. She missed out on a place in the four-rider final but finished second in the small final at Bad Gastein in Austria. American Lindsey Jacobellis scored her first win of the season, beating Norway’s Helene Olafsen and Sandra Frei of Switzerland.

Manx snowboarder Zoe Gillings says she is full of confidence ahead of the next FIS World Cup round in Telluride, USA.

The British number one finished 10th in the opening round in Argentina, after being impeded in a crash with world number one Lindsey Jacobellis.

“I’m excited about racing again and hopefully I can podium in Telluride,” she told BBC Isle of Man.

The British number one said: “The Winter Olympics will be the biggest competition of my career so far so everything has to be right. “My preparations so far have been ideal and I’m really having fun.”
