The Gorges de la Diosaz are opening early thanks to the good weather and the spectacular flow of water, with the doors being opened for the summer season on the 29th May.
If you’ve never been to the Gorges, they are well worth a visit. Signposted from Servoz, the gorges are just a few minutes’ walk from the village centre and about 20 minutes’ walk from the train station. Metres and metres of wooden walkways and bridges have been constructed to make for a pleasant walk which gets you right up and close to the waterfalls.
The cascading water and the gorges that have been created over thousands of years are completely natural. The source of the water is the south face of Mont Buet above Vallorcine and at 3099m, there is plenty of melting snow to fuel the waterfalls!
This early opening period means the gorges will be open only during the afternoons between 14:00 and 16:00, so it’s best to check the Gorges de la Diosaz website or call them on 04 50 47 21 13 before setting off. Admissions is 5€ for adults, free for under fives, 3.50€ for five to 12 year olds and 4.50€ for 13 to 16 year olds and senior citizens.
During the main summer season the Gorges will be open every day from 09:00. There is also a snack bar selling refreshments on site too.
