Fresh snow fell at Kaprun in Austria this weekend increasing the base depth by almost 40cm since last Thursday. Austria has the greatest number of open resorts of our featured European summer skiing destinations. All of our reported French resorts are currently closed while Presena is open in Italy and Zermatt offers skiing in Switzerland.
Whistler in Canada is now closed for the end of their winter season. Blackcomb Mountain at Whistler is scheduled to open for the summer ski season on 20th June though. Mount Hutt opened this weekend and it is the first of our reported New Zealand resorts to open for the 2009 ski season. This is the only resort in the southern hemisphere that we report on that is currently open for skiing.
